Modalities
Most of the modalities I practice you will be familiar with –
there is a common thread in all of them – they are non-invasive,
and I act as a facilitator so your own body resets itself (a reboot
of your CPU) and returns to a state of balance and well-being.
Some modalities
have more profound restorative effects on some individuals
than others, and some modalities are more beneficial than others for
certain conditions at different stages of treatment. Your whole body
has adapted in many ways to where it is now, so in unraveling this process,
the key is to change and adapt to your body’s
changing responses to treatment and return to vitality.

Naturopathy
is based on the belief that the body has an inherent self-healing capacity.
Previously called ‘nature cures’ naturopathy is wholistic
healthcare – treating the person as a whole rather than just focusing
on the area or part of the body that is in a state of discomfort.
Addressing the underlying
imbalances is important, and here I use various modalities and treatments
such as:
- Herbal Medicine
- Nutrition
- Homeopathy
- Iridology
- Natural Therapies &
Massage
- Electrodermal Screening
(CEDS)
- Cellular Health Assessment
(CHA)
- Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM)
These modalities can be used
very effectively, to work with the body and bring a gentle and effective
return to overall vitality – the best possible outcome for you.
Naturopathy is fabulous as a preventative tool – and to
work proactively is to work smarter. It makes sense to enhance
our wellness, stamina, performance and focus on being the best that we
can be.

Iridology
is used to gain further insights into a client’s
constitution and reflects the status of the internal body. Acute
and chronic health problems are reflected in the iris and these
markings show healing signs or clear up completely on return to wellness.
FAQ: how does this work?
ANS: physically, the eye is an extension of the brain,
the central nervous system (CNS), and the iris is linked by to each
part of the body by thousands of nerve endings which reflect any CNS
distress in the iris.
Herbal Medicine
has been used effectively for thousands of years and the basis of many
of the preparations in today’s pharmaceutical industry are synthetically
manufactured substances made to replicate isolated chemical structures
of medicinal plants because of their effectiveness – usually at
much higher strengths than in nature. It is the synergistic effect of
all the chemicals in the plant that sets herbal medicine
apart. Liquid herbal mixtures are not mass produced, but individually
dispensed to address your unique set of health problems.
FAQ: I’ve heard that some herbs
are dangerous?
ANS: There are some cautions and contra-indications
with certain conditions such as hypertension or particular drugs etc.
Our professional training emphasizes all contras and cautions, and we
are notified of any newly discovered interactions through our professional
membership.

Nutrition
is such a large area – it’s about knowing what are the right
foods, how to prepare them to retain maximum benefits, eating the right
quantities at the best times. The ‘healthy’ food pyramid
that has been promoted for the last 25 years coupled with reduced exercise,
has led to unprecedented obesity in the western world with ensuing weight
related diseases of heart disease, diabetes etc – which just have
to be reversed.
I use food as a form of medicine –
the blood and bowel cleansers, those that help the kidneys, skin, reduce
body acidity - foods that help or hinder certain health problems, and
they really work. The emphasis is on gently clearing all the
body’s elimination channels – bowel, lymph, skin,
lungs and kidneys – so that toxins, acids etc can leave the body
without creating a strong healing crisis.
Absorption of our nutrients is vital, as well as offsetting
the effects of environmental pollution, free-radicals and long-term
stress on our bodies – so I recommend vitamin and mineral supplementation
too.
Dietary advice and small exercise
and lifestyle adjustments can make huge long-term improvements
to peoples lives.
Sports nutrition is vital to maximize performance and stamina
for those undertaking regular and serious training levels.

Natural
Therapies
The broad range of natural therapies
I have studied gives me a wide
range of modalities that I have to offer my clients and reflects
my
integrated, wholistic approach to natural health management. Sometimes
I work in just one style or therapy only, other times I apply different
techniques to different fibres of the body – it works.
I want lasting results;
Clients want choice – I provide it.
All natural therapies used are non-invasive
and gentle for chronic and acute neck and joint problems as well as
headaches/migraine, sinus, RSI, tension in the jaw (eg grinding teeth)
hearing problems, lower back, neck and ‘frozen’ shoulders
– whether caused by accidents, trauma or prolonged tension.
Briefly, Bowen works
on resetting ligaments and muscles, Myotherapy on the
tightness of the layers of skin or fascia.
When soft tissues are released and properly
balanced, the skeletal bones are usually realigned without jolting and
cracking. Cranio Sacral works well on the membrane
system of the body - relaxing the deep myofascial system in the body
via the motor nervous system. Excellent for shear, torsion and rotation
injuries where resistance and inertia has developed.
FAQ: can you use these modalities on anyone
?
ANS: young to old can benefit – we don’t
work on anyone with obvious contra-indications eg: skull fractures,
hemorrhaging, acute systemic infections – but this is common sense.
Lymphatic drainage
is very effective for helping the immune system, as it is the major
waste removal pathway in the body. It helps with acne, eczema and reduces
cellulite, oedema and fluid retention.
Reflexology works
on the principle of reflex zones corresponding to all parts of the body
are on the hands, feet and ears. Massaging these areas then normalizes
the corresponding internal and external parts of the body.
Acupressure is used in conjunction
with Meridian Balancing to stimulate or sedate areas
of the body that need adjustments.
The Kinesiology I use
quickly ties in the emotional and sub-conscious aspects of the treatment,
and is especially beneficial when used with Essence Therapy
and CEDS.

Massage
Therapy
Massage techniques range from the very gentle relaxing
Swedish and facial relaxation (great
for the teeth grinders and those with jaw tension) and special Aromatherapy
pampering - we all need that regularly!
Pregnancy massage brings
special needs, and I have seated massage also for the later months of
pregnancy to give maximum comfort.
Heavier deep-tissue styles of massage
are more appropriate for sports enthusiasts and injuries. Sports
Massage is intensive deep tissue work on muscles where it is
needed most, using specialized techniques such as Trigger Point
work and a combination of therapies.
CHA treatments measure
the effectiveness of your training – muscle and fat ratios, cellular
health etc and show your biological age.
Remedial massage is
used for injuries from yesterday or 20 years ago –
they can all be helped by increasing the blood flow and so bringing
nutrients to the area and help in regaining mobility – with instructions
on simple safe exercises for your homework. Remedial massage can be
used on its own or in conjunction with powerful treatments such as FSM
for really painful conditions.

Health
Assessments
BioEnergetic Medicine,
also known as Computerised
Electrodermal Screening (CEDS) identifies areas of energetic
imbalance within the organs, glands, tissues and systems of the body.
These imbalances are usually enough to make one feel ‘out of sorts’
but
often there is no evidence showing up in blood tests - yet.
Acupuncture points on hands and feet are tested with a probe,
and changes in resistance of a meridian indicate either under or overactivity
– hence a health imbalance.
Working on these problem areas, various
substances can be tested for allergies and sensitivities
which are putting extra stress on the body. The allergy/sensitivities
can be eliminated or neutralized with a homeopathic preparation.
I can also test nutritional supplements by this method to check its
suitability for you.
BioImpedance testing,
or Cellular Health Analyser (CHA) is a scientifically
validated test that accurately assesses the status of health
at the cellular level, which determines our biological age
(v’s our chronological age). This quick and non-invasive test
measures and records
The CHA objectively measures the changing
body composition over time, which enables treatment to be adjusted to
best suit your changing needs.

Frequency
Specific Microcurrent (FSM)
This electrotherapy unit operates at very low amps
(millionths amp)
similar to that produced by your own cells. Your body seems to use the
microcurrent energy to increase its own energy (and hence healing-ability)
production, protein synthesis and waste product removal.
The frequencies have been described as
electronic homeopathy – and
work on the principle of resonance – just the same as a singer
can
shatter a glass when the note resonates with the crystal structure –
so the FSM works on the traumatized and ‘toxic’
biologic tissue and changes its structure when the frequency
is correct – the tissue/s soften and the pain relief
that comes with it seems to be long lasting provided the tissue is then
allowed to stabilize. Between 60% to 80% of the treatment usually holds
between sessions, which are 4-7 days apart. A minimum of 3-5 treatments
is recommended.
Muscles that have contorted and adapted
may return to the old configuration if not treated again, although some
clients have had permanent changes after just a few treatments.
It is a non-invasive relaxing treatment that works on both chronic and
acute soft tissue problems.
FAQ: Are
there any side effects with the FSM?
ANS: Seldom. The increase in cellular metabolism can
remove long-stored waste from muscles very quickly, so supplements to
aid in liver detoxification are usually recommended. Most people feel
no side effects, a few get fatigue, drowsiness, a temporary increase
in pain or some flu-like symptoms which all seem to dissipate within
20 minutes on drinking water. All reactions are temporary.
FAQ: are there any situations where FSM can’t
be used?
ANS: Yes. 1st trimester of pregnancy and people with
demand pacemakers; also we do not use FSM treatment through the brain
area at all; for treatments post 1st trimester we avoid the uterus area.
